I’ve been part of the Northshore School District for 18 years, and I’ve had the privilege of serving the Woodin Elementary community for over a decade. This school and community mean so much to me. I truly value the diversity, strong relationships, and deep sense of belonging here. My family and I live in the area and feel fortunate to call it home. My older son attends the University of Washington, and my younger son is currently a sophomore in high school. We also have one sweet lab, and on weekends, we love staying active, whether it’s on the soccer field, skiing in the mountains, or heading to the coast to surf.
I grew up in El Paso, Texas, and moved to Washington State during my junior year of high school. My career in education began in the Bellevue School District, where I taught kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and K–6 special education. After many years in the classroom, I became an English Language Development (ELD) teacher and coach, supporting educators across several schools in meeting the needs of multilingual learners. I later served as a literacy coach at Clyde Hill Elementary, which deepened my passion for working collaboratively with staff to support student learning on a broader scale.
In 2008, I joined Northshore as an assistant principal at Woodmoor Elementary and later at Canyon Creek. I’ve truly loved every role I’ve had in this district, but being part of the Woodin Elementary community has been especially meaningful. The relationships built with students, staff, and families have made this work incredibly rewarding.
Sincerely,
Dawn Bowers, Principal
